Pavilion | HCM, Vietnam | Winter 2016
The inaugural encounter with any experience invariably engenders an indelible resonance within the depths of our being. The Future Airy Space endeavor assumed profound significance in my narrative, representing the maiden collaborative project I embarked upon alongside my classmates at the University of Architecture Ho Chi Minh City. Providentially, our collective efforts bore fruit, as we emerged triumphant, securing the coveted Best Performance Prize in the esteemed “Future” Design Competition, a prestigious event organized under the auspices of the UAH Students’ Traditional Festival in 2016. This prize served as a catalyst, instilling an unwavering resolve to persevere and delve deeper into study and practice as we charted our course toward an illustrious future.
The competition posed an arduous quandary, challenging us to conceive a tectonic expanse that would serve as a harbinger of the future. The stipulation mandated that this ethereal realm be constructed solely from the humble medium of cardboard, necessitating a design that was simultaneously unassuming yet robust enough to withstand the test of time. Drawing inspiration from the undulating contours of oceanic waves and majestic mountains, we endeavored to imbue the project’s form with an aura of familiarity, evoking a profound resonance within the hearts of all who beheld it. Moreover, our vision encompassed the creation of an open expanse. This veritable conduit would bridge the chasm between humanity and nature, fostering intimate communion within the confines of our academic institution.
