Bamboo Bending with Robotic Arm
Individual Work | Instructor: Vicky Achnani
Bamboo Pavilion | Spring 2025
Bamboo Bending is a unique course organized and directly taught by Professor Vicky Achnani, providing an opportunity to explore innovative design methods with bamboo. Throughout the course, I learned how to leverage the flexibility of this material to create unique and highly applicable structures. Notably, I had the chance to work with robotic arm technology, which made the bamboo bending process more precise and effortless. This approach enhanced design efficiency and unlocked the potential for integrating technology into sustainable architecture. By midterm, I proposed several pavilion concepts based on prior studies of bamboo structures, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern technology to create impressive and environmentally friendly spaces.
